Improvements in Great Shelford

undefinedWork is starting on an essential project in Great Shelford

The scheme will see the renewal of existing water mains with a new, high-performance water pipe.

Where and when?

The works will begin on Monday 25 July 2022, for approximately four weeks, in the following locations:

  • More's Meadow
  • Bridge Close
  • Cambridge Road

Will traffic be affected?

In order to complete the work as safely and efficiently as possible, the following traffic management will be in place
  • Temporary three-way traffic lights on Cambridge Road, at the junction of Bridge Close, from 25 July – 5 August
  • Temporary three-way traffic lights on Bridge Close, at the junction of More’s Meadow, from 8 – 12 August
  • From 15 – 19 August, More’s Meadow will have a single lane closure in place, where motorists will be required to give way and pass when the road is clear.
Access to frontages will be maintained at all times, and there will be appropriate signage in place for the duration of the works. Please do not park in the affected areas between 9am and 7pm, as this will minimise disruption, allowing us to work efficiently and safely set up temporary traffic lights.

Will this affect my water supply?

We may need to turn off your water supply for a short period of time. If we do need to shut off your supply, we will provide as much notice as possible.

These works will improve the quality and reliability of your water supply. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

Our investment programme

This scheme is part of our commitment to invest in new water mains, to reduce leakage by at least 15% and to ensure our customers continue to receive a reliable and high-quality water supply.
